Triops are crustaceans that look like they came right out of the dinosaur age. What they really are are miniature horseshoe crabs. As a species, they have been around for about 200 million years. Triops live there entire life cycle in less than 90 days. After hatching, triops are capable of doubling in size every day until they reach their full grown size of 1 to 2 inches long. This deluxe set includes 20 - 30 triops eggs and includes a VERY nice plastic habitat which can be reused with all kinds of small creatures. Also included are nutrients, thermometer, gravel, magnifying lense and instructions. This is a fascinating hands-on project which will provide an education in living life cycles as well as developing the responsibilities required to take care of something alive. |
